Indianapolis Indians 6, Durham Bulls 3

Tonight we went to Dollar Night at Victory Field, with our friends Justin & Tracy and Dustin & Shayla. Justin & Tracy are our neighbors, and Dustin works with me at Miebach. Dollar Night features $1.00 Cracker Jacks, hotdogs, and popcorn....Nice....
Dustin and Shayla - enjoying our lawn seats in right field.
Maddie woke up during the 7th inning stretch to sing and have a bottle.
Justin and Tracy enjoying a cold one in the outfield. If you look closely you can see Payton Manning over Tracy's shoulder.

Today the Carnes's had a family outing in Brown County State Park, near Nashville, Indiana. It's a really nice park, in the rolling hills of southern Indiana near Bloomington. This would be Maddie's first time on a picnic, and we like to think that she had a good time. She did sleep through most of it, but she also ate her picnic lunch (3 oz. of Similac) after Jill and I finished ours.

Originally I had planned to get a picnic set to celebrate our anniversary, but when the day came it was 95 degrees outside, and it really wasn't the best time for sitting around outside. Today, on the other hand, was the perfect day to be in the park.
Mom and baby posing for a nice picture at the picnic table.
Maddie did a lot of sleeping, but she eventually woke up and checked out the park.
This picture is from Brown County State Park's website, but as you can see, the park is located in an area surrounding by forests and hills, and there are many scenic overlooks with elderly people in rain slickers, on bikes.
This is our picnic site. The park is only $5.00 per car, and it's well worth it. This spot was next to a creek in a large field. Unfortunately when we got there we had to scrounge the car for some cash, due our extensive use of the check cards we never seem to have any real money. We were able to come up with 3 dollar bills, 7 quarters, a dime and 15 pennies, so they let us in.

Visitors and Friends

Pictures Galore!

August 9th, 2006 - Visit from Mammaw and Pappaw

Maddie was excited to have a visit from her great-grandparents, Mammaw and Pappaw. Mommy and Daddy were excited because this would be the first time that Maddie had been without either of us since we brought her home from the hospital. Jill's grandparents played the role of babysitters while we went to see Ricky Bobby.
That thing must be comfortable. Pappaw was going over some of the finer points of sleeping with Maddie.

Rachel and Maddie Meet - August 2nd, 2006

Maddie has found her favorite way to relax. She likes to be held on your chest, on her stomach so she can pick up her head to try to take a look at you. She can sleep for hours this way.
Maddie had the chance to meet her big cousin, Rachel. Rachel had fun checking out little Maddie. Randi brought her over so they could meet for the first time. We had to remind her that Maddie isn't a doll, but other than a few innocent pokes and grabs, they got along quite well.
