Madelyn turns 2!!!

Sunday was Maddie's 2nd birthday! We greeted her with singing and she was extremely excited about it. We got her a giant Dora balloon and a group of just latex balloons. She called the group of balloons the "party" and every time she had them she said "oh! My party!"

She opened presents from Mommy and Daddy as well as the presents Bampa and Bobo sent to her. It didn't take her too long to get the hang of it!!

We had cupcakes mid-afternoon. Only this goofy kid would eat it with a fork and actually whine when she got some on her hand. We finally got her to just pick it up and eat it.

After our naps (we all took one this particular day!) we headed to Johnny Rockets for dinner. We knew they would have Maddie's favorites dot-dogs and shake-shakes (milk shakes). She got one of each and loved it.

After we got home we worked outside a little bit. She helped me weed and helped Daddy wash the car. What a way to end your birthday! Fortunately, she loved it!

A trip to the Vigo County Fair

Saturday Chuck was out of town, so I packed up the girls and headed to Terre Haute for the day. We went to the county fair. Everyone had a good time! I think Rebekah's face says it all (as usual, she is smiling!!)

Joe took Maddie and Rachel to pet all kinds of animals....

Rabbits (even Rebekah on in on this one!)

Pigs

Cows

Goats

Chickens

They got to ride one ride (Maddie wasn't tall enough for most things), so they did the carousel. Safe choice since I knew Maddie would like it!

A day with the girls

Friday the girls and I ran a few errands. Amelia did her usual thing of sleeping through the entire trip. We went and got Maddie's haircut for the very first time! There wasn't much to cut, but it got the hair out of her eyes!

After the haircut, we went and had lunch at 5 Guys Burger and Fries Anyone that has been to In-and-Out Burger in California, this is a great 2nd to it. Maddie had her usual, a hot dog (or as she calls it, a "dot-dog").
We ended the trip with a walk through PetSmart. We were looking for puppies, but no one had brought theirs in this particular day. We did find some kitties, fish, birds and rats (to which Madelyn said "ew, nasty").

A visit from the Gormong cousins

Last week Randi came and brought the girls for a 2 day visit. They had an excellent time together. The first day we just stayed at the house and allowed the kids to play. Rebekah wanted to play with Amelia, but unfortunately she isn't quite big enough to brave the chaos of the other three girls.
Wednesday, we got up and went to the zoo. We were able to try out our new sit and stand stroller. Randi pushed the three girls and I had Amelia. I think I got the better part of that deal!

Rachel got to try and pet the sharks. I am not sure if she actually made contact with one or not, but she seemed to really enjoy it!

Enjoying the penguins.......

The girls were trying to get a more up close look at the zebras.

They got the chance to ride the carousel and the train while we were there. Rachel was hilarious on the carousel because she kept yelling "I am having so much fun!"

Aren't they sweet? Looking a bit tired however.

An Amelia Post

Amelia is really getting big! She is starting to coo and smile when we talk or sing to her. These are just a few cute pics we have managed to capture!

I thought this picture was cute...they were lounging in bed one morning. Bet you can't guess what they were watching!!

A visit from Grandma

A couple of weeks ago one of Maddie and Amelia's "Bugga"s came to visit. We spent Sunday afternoon at the Indianapolis zoo.

Maddie got to pet her first shark. Unfortunately she was more interested in playing in the water which scared most of them away.
The newest exhibit this year are the koalas on loan from the San Diego zoo. Unfortunately they sleep 22 hours a day, so we didn't see them awake!
Maddie got a pretty up close look at the polar bear as he was roaming around after a swim.
At the end of our visit, we sat and had some ice cream. It was a fun trip!

Road trip to Grand Rapids

The weekend of June 21, we packed up the family and made the trip to Grand Rapids to see Grandpa and Roberta (or Bampa and Bobo). We made good time getting there....only 4 1/2 hours!

Saturday morning, Chuck took Madelyn to the Fredrick Meijer Gardens. They spent the majority of their time in the children's garden, but Madelyn really enjoyed it! It was great for her to go do something without her sissy.

Saturday afternoon we all went to Lansing to celebrate Michelle and Caroline's graduation from high school. We didn't take the camera, but we had a really good time seeing everyone!

Sunday we all went to the Grand Rapids zoo. We saw this as we were walking to the gate. It left us wondering what a herpetologist is.
We saw these kangaroos.....notice the leg sticking out from her pouch in her stomach.

We had a good time seeing the sights at the zoo. Oh, and in case you were wondering......
