Greetings from Europe - Recap of Days 1 and 2

As you most likely know, Jill and I are currently on "the other side of the pond" over in Europe.

My company, Miebach Logistics, has an Annual Meeting for all the global offices to come together and discuss how things are going, to review some installed client projects, and to have some fun. Our company has 15 offices in Germany, Poland, Spain, India, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and of course, USA. We toured the main spare parts center for Volkswagen, as well as the pharma company Boehringer Ingelheim. The meeting is in Frankfurt, Germany (where Miebach's headquarters are located), and I came over last Tuesday. Here's a couple pictures from the proceedings.

Day 1 - Jill arrives in Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Maikammer
Jill joined me in Frankfurt on Sunday morning, and our friends Michael and Sibylle picked us up. They live with their 3 kids in Maikammer, Germany. Michael works in Chur, Switzerland, for the Wurth Group, but he used to work in Indianapolis with us at Miebach. We spent Sunday with them, and went to see Heidelberg Schloss (castle). We went out for dinner in their hometown, to have some food typical to their region (Rhineland Pfalz) - Germany's wine country. Forgot to mention - their next door neighbors are owner-operators of a winery, producing a variety of white and red wines. We stopped over to visit with them and had a chance to do some tasting :)

Day 2 - Strasbourg and Munich

Monday was spent touring Strasbourg, France with Michael and Sibylle. We checked out the Notre Dame Cathedral and had some French cuisine for lunch. It rained while we were there, but we made the most of it by putting up the umbrella, and forging ahead. In the afternoon we found our train to Munich - at the Karlsruhe (Germany) Hauptbahnhof (main station). The ride was quiet and smooth, and we arrived in Munich around 8:00 p.m. After checking into the hotel, we strolled down to the Marienplatz, to see the famous Glockenspiel. We then went down to the Hofbrauhaus to try some beer and pretzels, to wind down after a tiring day.

By the way, check out www.gormong.blogspot.com to see what our girl Maddie's been up to. We'll post the remaining days ASAP.

Ahhh, Chuck... the picture in the plant where you all have on the white coveralls...do you know that everyone's shoes are glowing? Are you sure this company is safe?

Looks like you were enjoying yourselves -- looking forward to the next post.

Get that up before the morning, will ya?
